A few pictures of Art Blocks: The Big Bash

I don’t think Houston gets nearly enough credit nationally for their efforts in promoting the arts. It seems that every week there is a great public arts event available free to anybody who wants to come participate and you can often even meet the artist who is being featured. This time, I visited Art Blocks: The Big Bash featuring Patrick Renner’s Trumpet Flower along with the performance from the Suffers, and Amy Eii and Vault Dance.

The Trumpet Flower, like Patrick Renner’s Funnel Tunnel  was a community participation piece of work where the community was invited to help paint the individual pieces of wood that make up the body of the piece.  The design is similar to the funnel tunnel, but this one looks a lot more permanent and fits right in between the two buildings. Beautiful piece of work.Patrick Renner's Trumpet Flower

What I was not expecting however was Amy EII and VauLt Dance’s performance on the parking garage wall. Apparently, neither was this gentleman:

Amy Ell and VauLt Dance (and oblivious fellow)

It was an amazing display
