A few pictures from the grand opening of Buffalo Bayou Park

The original date for the Buffalo Bayou Park’s grand opening was moved to October 3rd because of Houston’s Memorial Day flooding, but the city was rewarded with perfect weather on the new date.  I’ve been coming to the park before it was cool, but even I was impressed by the improvements and it more than made up for all the months of construction and mud.

As part of the grand opening there were some special events. The first event I saw was the Birds of Prey show in the Green Tree area.  Here is a California Condor that was the size of a Labradoodle with wings.  Birds of Prey show

My favorite bird however was the Peregrine Falcon.  I’ve never photographed one in nature but I’ll just keep this one for now. Peregrine Falcon during the Birds of Prey show
