Here are a few pictures I took this morning in the Meyerland area of Houston while I was going nowhere.
This picture captures the particular chaos that happens when civilization falls apart after street flooding – drivers go the wrong way, jump curbs, park in the median, just park in the street, etc. I’ve seen it mostly at night but nobody was shy about it during the day this time.
No street flood is complete without people walking in high water.
The fire department came to the rescue, but they came, circled around and went back
This is my favorite picture of the day. It’s eerie and beautiful. I feel bad for the owner however and hope they made it home ok.
Brays Bayou was as high as I have ever seen it.
The rain wasn’t a complete surprise and was promised to drench us all weekend, but aside from a morning storm, the 3 day weekend was beautiful.
