This year’s Alaskan Malamute Rescue Calendar was a bit different than the years’ past. Rather than picking a single park out in the country, we decided to do an urban downtown Houston shoot. Sure we were completely worn out from all the walking, and a few of the pups like the one in the first picture were not cooperating, but overall, I am very happy with the pictures. I wish I could post the pictures that will likely be selected for the calendar but in the years’ past, I noticed some of the owners and other people were taking the pictures instead of donating money to get the calendar so now I try to close loopholes. I and the dozen other people who volunteered our time didn’t do this just for the fun – the purpose is for $$$ so the group can continue to do the wonderful work they do….ok I do it also because it is a unique photography opportunity and for one day I get to play with other people’s dogs 🙂
This was a puppy…we tried to do a “waiting for the train” (there was no train service that day FYI so it was safe to do this) theme…not sure how the actual picture came out though. This was shot with my legendary 14-24mm f/2.8 lens. It’s not a macro lens so getting that close to it would not work out quite well with focusing.
Overall, a great weekend for various reasons…shooting, puppies, road trip. Good times.
