So, this past Sunday I decided to go to Discovery Green Park and see whether there were any preparations for the NCAA final four around downtown, look at some art bikes, and otherwise enjoy the first day of spring. It just so happened that there was a huge Iranian and American celebration of the Persian new year going on in the same part. This is really one of those things that I should have already known, but I didn’t. For shame.
This shot was rather difficult because as you can see the sun was directly behind the girls and all I had was my SB600 speed light. The flash sync speed on my camera is only 1/200th of a second which means that in order to balance out the light, I am limited to a relatively slow shutter speed which means that my aperture will be very narrow and I would need a very high-powered strobe to be able to overpower that sun. I could use the high-speed sync mode but that would require many more flashes as it robs the flash of its power while in that mode. So, I just did the best I could and the colors still show very nicely.
